Meet Pastor Joshua
Rev. Dr. Joshua Scott is the Lead Pastor of Unique Church in Charlotte, NC. With a deep passion for preaching, teaching, and shepherding God’s people, Pastor Josh is dedicated to creating a church that serves as a safe haven for all generations, cultures, and church experiences. His ministry expertise includes discipleship, mentoring, counseling, leadership, and writing, all rooted in his unwavering love for God and His people.
A native of Atlanta, Pastor Josh committed his life to Christ at the age of 7 and answered his call to ministry at 25. Since then, he has faithfully served at churches in both Atlanta, GA, and Charlotte, NC, gaining valuable experience and a heart for building thriving, Christ-centered communities.
In 2017, Joshua married the love of his life, Lauren. Together, they share a home filled with love, laughter, and two Boxer puppies, Dawn and Grace.
Pastor Josh is a dedicated scholar, holding a dual Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology and History from Jacksonville State University. His theological education includes a Master of Arts in Christian Education from the Morehouse School of Religion and a Master of Divinity from McAfee School of Theology. In his pursuit of excellence, he earned a Doctor of Ministry from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in 2020, a Doctor of Philosophy in Preaching from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 2022, and most recently, a Doctor of Philosophy in Leadership from Anderson University in 2024.
Pastor Josh’s ministry is built on the belief that every generation should be equipped to know and love God. His favorite verse, Philippians 4:13—“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”—inspires his approach to life, ministry, and leadership. Whether enjoying red velvet cake, running (slowly) for exercise, or watching movies with Lauren, Pastor Josh embraces life with gratitude and faith.
Together, Joshua and Lauren are committed to building a community that reflects the unique and unconditional love of Jesus, welcoming all people to experience God’s grace and grow in faith at Unique Church.
